Engineering (Ingenieurwesen) Bachelor of Engineering

1 Study programme 5 different specializations

The bachelor's degree program in engineering (Ingenieurwesen) follows an innovative concept. Since the fields of application for engineers are broad, this degree program also offers various perspectives. In the first two semesters, the basics of engineering are taught and first impressions of the possible specializations are given. Only at the beginning of the third semester do students choose a specialization based on their individual interests and strengths in which to continue their studies.

Students test self-constructed current generator off Heligoland

In the future, waves and currents are to be used as a versatile and climate-neutral source of electrical energy from the sea. But this energy source can also be used on a small scale. However, the extreme environmental conditions of the open sea not only place high demands on technology and maintenance, but also require new and further developments. Students at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences have designed a current generator in a project that not only withstands water pressure, but also supplies itself with energy autonomously from tidal currents. Supported by Debstedter Astro Motoren GmbH & Co.KG, the Alfred Wegener Institute in Bremerhaven and Berufliche Bildung Bremerhaven GmbH, they were able to build a prototype and launch it during a research trip off Heligoland.
